About Holiday In the Grove

What Will Residents Experience When They Visit This Year's Event....




  • Breakfast with Santa

  • A complete hot breakfast with hot cakes, sausage, fruit, juice,

  • milk and coffee. The breakfast is open to all who attend for a nominal fee.


  • Pictures with Santa

  • Santa Claus comes to the community center to have his picture taken

  • with the children and he gives each child a treat and a souvenir picture

  • to take home.


  • Letters to Santa

  • Parent can supply the name of their children for a special letter from

  • Santa to be delivered to their home the week before Christmas.


  • Children’s Activities

  • Coloring center, make and take reindeer food, cookie decorating, games and prizes.



  • crafts with instructions or samples, provided at John Shields Elementary School.

  • Children’s Crafts

  • Organized, age-appropriate crafts with instructions or samples, provided at John Shields Elementary School.


  • Cookie Decorating

  • Mrs. Claus drops by to help decorate home baked cookies with the children in the community that they can eat or take home with them. 


  • Hoilday Craft & Vendor Fair 

  • Festive, fun and great for all ages. Shopping for everyone on your holiday list. Display tables still available. 


  • Other activities will be offered such as the Children’s Raffle Basket, Sweet Treats, Stories and a couple of added surprises. Stay connected to our website and facebook page for updates throughout the season leading up to the event!


Who participates? 


Holiday in the Grove is held throughout the community: at the Sugar Grove Community Building, John Shields Elementary School, Sugar Grove Library, and the United Methodist Church. Many organizations within Sugar Grove volunteer their time to help run this event: the Sugar Grove Fire Department, Sugar Grove Police Department, Village of Sugar Grove, Sugar Grove Township, Sugar Grove Library, Sugar Grove Community Building Board of Directors, Sugar Grove Chamber of Commerce, Sugar Grove Park District, Sugar Grove United Methodist Church and the Holiday in the Grove committee which is the center of all the planning.
